The NTI Group, Inc. Selected to Deliver Alerts and Notifications in New York City Pilot

New York City Turns to Multi-modal Technology to Enhance Emergency Communication and Response Efforts

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., Dec. 4 -- The NTI Group, Inc. (NTI) today proudly announced the launch of a pilot program called Notify NYC in New York City for Connect-CTY®, a multi-modal mass communication service offered by NTI.

The Connect-CTY service provides city officials the ability to communicate with residents regarding time-sensitive public safety matters, such as unforeseen events or emergencies. Through the pilot program, the service will be used to communicate with residents in Northeast Bronx and Southwest Staten Island.

"We, along with New York City, recognize the importance of direct, timely, and accurate communication in keeping residents informed during an emergency," said Robin D. Richards, Chairman and CEO of NTI. "We are honored to be partnering with the City as part of a strong and visionary team."

Municipalities across the country depend on the Connect-CTY service to keep citizens informed relative to health and safety issues in the public interest.

"I have always believed that the public deserves the swiftest access to information its government can accurately provide, particularly during emergencies," said Mayor Michael Bloomberg. "Notify NYC will give New Yorkers in the pilot communities electronic access to information while serving as a proving ground for different technologies that may one day benefit the entire City."

The Connect-CTY service allows officials to record, send, track and report personalized voice and e-mail messages to residents, businesses, and local agencies in just minutes, through a single phone call.

"With the Connect-CTY service, city administrators have a powerful tool for mass communication without having to purchase new computers, software and telephone lines," Richards said. "New York officials will be able to quickly disseminate time-sensitive information, allowing them to focus efforts on resolving potentially dangerous situations and keep residents safe."

Administrators can target messages to an unlimited number of groups - everything from mobilizing emergency response teams to coordinating efforts with necessary agencies or volunteers. Authorized users also can use a map on the Connect-CTY system to contact specific geographical locations, sending messages only to the residents within select neighborhoods when needed.

Residents of Northeast Bronx and Southwest Staten Island are encouraged to opt-in to the service via www.nyc.gov/ to register their contact information (up to three phone lines and two e-mail addresses).
