The New South Wales Fire Service Control Room Features QuadView Multiple Window Display Technology

November 22, 2005 Alameda, CA - The New South Wales (NSW) Fire Service in Sydney, Australia, recently opened its new control room featuring two RGB Spectrum's QuadView® XL windowing processors.

The goal was to replace felt-tip pens and paper maps by a state-of-the-art real-time information system. About 30 fire control centers across the state currently connect to the operations system over a wide area network, which will soon be expanded to 80 centers. Two QuadView windowing processors feed the large 1x2 projector array. Each processor displays four high-resolution computer sources consisting of geographic information systems (GIS) maps, satellite images and weather data, or video inputs consisting of multimedia presentations stored on CDs and DVDs.

The NSW Fire Service contracted ELECTROBOARD, a leading audio-visual integration company in Australia. ELECTROBOARD chose RGB Spectrum's QuadView multi-input, multi-window display processor for the control room viewing system. According to Damian Bolton, Marketing Manager at ELECTROBOARD, "The QuadView processor was an obvious choice. It has excellent image quality and allows displaying multiple high-resolution computer sources at up to 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution in real-time. The ease of use of the QuadView greatly facilitated the installation and was helpful in keeping us on schedule".

The QuadView processor combines high-resolution computer images and videos, and feeds them to both a video projector and several screens. It is the latest of a new generation of windowing systems, providing the most powerful image processing available and outstanding image quality. The QuadView accepts up to sixteen sources, four of which can be displayed simultaneously, and supports high resolution RGB, HDTV 1080i/720p, S-Video, component, and composite video, and optional DVI inputs. Each input can be independently sized and positioned anywhere on the screen, as well as panned and zoomed to emphasize particular areas of interest. Leading-edge features include smooth zooming and panning, fast image processing with dynamic window sizing and instant display setting changes, built-in Web-based graphical user interface, dual RGB/DVI outputs, titling, borders, fade effects, and colored backgrounds.
