The New Audi TT Instrument Cluster Created with Rightware Kanzi Ui Solution

LAS VEGAS -

Rightware Software and NVIDIA Tegra Mobile Processors Enable the World's First User Programmable Instrument Cluster with Real-time 3D Graphics

Rightware proudly announced today that the instrument cluster of the new Audi TT has been created with Rightware's Kanzi User Interface solution. The new Audi TT instrument cluster was unveiled this morning at the Audi press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Audi continues to widen its adoption of Kanzi, having already started shipping various models of Audi A3 with the in-vehicle-infotainment system's user interface created with Kanzi. Today's launch marks a new application area for both Audi and Rightware. It is the world's first user programmable instrument cluster with real-time 3D graphics. This achievement was made possible by using best of breed technologies. Rightware Kanzi engine makes optimal use of the system's NVIDIA Tegra mobile processor.

Kanzi meets and exceeds all the stringent requirements of the automotive industry and is one of the only commercially available real-time graphics user interface solution in mass production. Its ability to provide high-quality real-time graphics in automotive embedded computer systems is unmatched.

e.solutions GmbH, a long-time licensee of the Kanzi UI solution, implemented the new Audi TT instrument cluster. The ability to use real-time rendering enabled designers and engineers at e.solutions to use realistic looking materials such as chrome and deploy advanced effects, including dynamic lighting and shadows. The end result is the world's most advanced digital instrument cluster that is fully interactive as opposed to static, pre-rendered approaches.

"The user interface has become one of the key decision making points for consumers worldwide. Our longstanding cooperation with Rightware and our widening adoption of their Kanzi UI Solution has enabled us to continuously design and implement the industry's leading user interfaces. We are thrilled with the new Audi TT Instrument cluster and the great partnership with Rightware," said Mathias Halliger, head of architecture, MMI System at Audi.

"Our collaboration with Audi and Rightware enables the world's most advanced instrument cluster for the Audi TT. The combination of the Kanzi engine and our powerful Tegra mobile processor enable advanced UI design with superb image quality and high frame-rates required by instrument cluster applications," said Sahin Kirtavit, senior director of Automotive Software Ecosystems, NVIDIA.

"Designing and implementing a fully dynamic instrument cluster is a big challenge because of all the various requirements involved. The cluster needs to look impeccable, be very responsive and, most importantly, work very reliably. We are extremely happy with the cooperation and support from Rightware during this and other projects we are working on. Kanzi enabled our team to accomplish this state-of-the art system that is unmatched anywhere in the world." Said Horst Hadler, Head of Cluster Graphics at e.solutions GmbH.

"We are immensely proud for playing an important role in the creation of the Audi TT instrument cluster. This sets a new bar for the whole automotive industry and is something you just need to see in your own eyes. We have been working with Audi since 2009 and it is great to see them continually pushing the envelope with our software to create these beautiful applications that have not been possible to achieve before." Said Jonas Geust, Rightware CEO.

Audi is demonstrating the Audi TT cockpit at their booth at the Consumer Electronics Show from January 7th through January 10th at LVCC North Hall 3430.
