The GravityZoo Company Announces Beta1 Release of the GravityZoo Framework

MAASTRICHT, Netherlands, March 6 / - Today the GravityZoo Company announces the Beta1 release of the GravityZoo Framework. This represents a major step in the convergence of Software as a Service (SaaS), SOA and Web 2.0. GravityZoo's newly developed technology allows for the delivery of all applications as a service at anytime anyplace and across anydevice in a distributed networked computing environment.

Part of the Beta1 release is The GravityZoo Client for Windows. This is a small software stack that opens the gateway to the GravityZoo Framework of which the Client becomes an integral part.

The GravityZoo Vision

The GravityZoo vision is about the convergence of SaaS, SOA and Web 2.0. Applications run in the network and are no longer limited to a server or a client computer. This allows both applications and information becoming totally OS and device independent. The latter ultimately resulting in a secure ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligence environment.

The GravityZoo Framework (Beta1)

Over the last months, many improvements to the existing framework have been made - many in accordance with our own roadmap, but also based upon the feedback received. Below the most important Beta1 achievements are listed:

o Improved User Interface:
The GravityZoo Framework Beta1 features a totally reworked user
interface, paving the way to the future with upcoming skinning and
customization functionality.

o Reworked threading model:
A totally reworked threading implementation has been implemented on
both the client and the backend environment. This threading environment
runs independently from the Operating System and allows very fine-grained
control of all GravityZoo processes.

o Improved Split-Horizon functionality:
Split-Horizon functionality allows applications to share resources
between server and client. The new version is more transparent to the
user and the application developer and paves the way to new distributed
computing capabilities.

o Cross-device application resume:
Applications started on one client, can be resumed on another client.
It is also possible to resume an application on more clients
simultaneously, allowing to work on the same application cross many
devices.

o Improved COS integration:
The Central Object Store is now totally integrated into the backend
framework, maximizing both scalability and stability.

The GravityZoo DaaS-environment

The GravityZoo Development as a Service (DaaS) environment is available for public testing. It allows developers to build, test, and run their applications online. The new version of the DaaS environment features many new and exciting features:

o Developers now can build more sophisticated, multi-module applications
in Python.
o Improved syntax highlighting allows for easier code development.
o Improved debugging functionality allows easier tracking of errors and
bugs.
