The F-series Ethernet PLCs - Fully Packed with Advanced Capabilities, Power & Flexibility

The F-series PLCs are Triangle Research International Inc's top of the line Trilogi PLC family - they are a highly geared-up version of the more established super M-series (T100MD and T100MX models) and have even more capabilities, features and communication readiness built in to support current technology and automation needs. Featuring a built-in Ethernet interface, the F-series PLCs are readily programmable over the Internet using Triangle's proprietary i-TRiLOGI Ladder+BASIC programming and monitoring software. These PLCs host both a PLC webserver and a Modbus/TCP server and allow up to 6 simultaneous connections which may be with i-TRiLOGI, SCADA, HMI or MS-Excel's web query software, or even other enterprise database software. The F-series PLCs are also able to perform machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, email dynamic content to any email client based on user-specified events as well as open client connections and communicate with other network devices over the Internet.

The F2424 PLC has 24 digital inputs, 24 digital outputs and 12 analog I/Os built-in and is expandable up to 256 digital I/Os. It is capable of controlling and/or driving up to 3 stepper motors directly with up to 4A per phase at 24VDC. Its high-speed digital inputs allow up to 3 quadrature encoders which may be connected to provide both position and speed information of moving devices. With 1x RS232 port and 2x RS485 ports and all of them supporting ModBus ASCII/RTU protocols, the F2424 is fully equipped for connectivity to a whole range of peripheral devices. Furthermore, each F2424 comes equipped with an IR remote control receiver for contactless data entry, and supports an optional ZigBee wireless radio module (a special set of interface pins allows addition of a third-party radio module known as XBEE which in turn enables this controller to interface to futuristic ZIGBEE wireless sensors and control modules).

The F1616-BA, though capable as a full-function, general purpose industrial PLC, is designed with features that are particularly well suited to Building Automation applications. The F1616-BA is the ideal choice for controlling "Smart Buildings", whether to provide creature comfort for its occupants, or more importantly in today's world, to monitor and control the energy consumption in buildings and homes to eliminate waste, and thereby helping to achieve the Green Revolution!

Starting with the control I/Os, the F1616-BA has built-in 32 digital I/Os (expandable to 256) that interface directly to 24VAC or DC power, 8 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs that are 0 to 10V range. Among the I/Os are 4 DC outputs that can also be used as PWM or AC phase control (light dimmer type) outputs, or to drive stepper motor(s). Also, there are 3 high-speed encoder inputs, 6 incoming pulse frequency counter inputs, as well as a built-in Infrared remote control interface. Unlike other product makes, these incredible features come in the STANDARD package (not a separately purchased add-on).

More importantly, the F1616-BA has the same impressive communication capability package as the F2424 which allows it to be used either as the master controller of a simple project such as in home automation, or as one of hundreds of "node controllers" in a complex building project. Like the F2424, the built-in Ethernet port on the F1616-BA PLC hosts both a PLC web server and a ModBus/TCP server, allows up to 6 simultaneous connections with devices such as touch panel HMIs, hardware running SCADA and PC software or other node controllers and will send out emails to report real time events or check a user-specified website to retrieve dynamic contents. Standard interfaces on the PLC include one RS232 port and two RS485 ports, all of which support industry standard MODBUS RTU or ASCII protocols.

The F1616-BA is packaged to be ready immediately to interface to power meters, HVAC sensors, and/or talk to other controllers to carry out sophisticated control tasks in a commercial building project. Some Building Automation applications for this PLC include roles as Main HVAC controller, Slave HVAC controller for VAV or CAV boxes, Lighting control and Audio-Video (AV) equipment control (learn and send 38KHz IR remote signal).

In summary, the F-series PLCs are highly flexible and ready for applications from advanced factory machine controls to distributed networked control systems and from remote field installations to home and building automation implementations. It's competitive pricing and pricing structure also position it well for both the OEM as well as for smaller volume project system integrators.
