The CAB Solution for Electromobility from Seco/Warwick

EV/CAB is a special CAB aluminum brazing furnace for the manufacture of EV battery coolers. It is SECO/WARWICK's answer to the needs of the electric car market.

2021 was a record year for the number of electric vehicles (EVs) sold. Global EV sales have continued their strong growth in 2022 as well. Last year, 6.6 million electric cars (including all-electric and plug-in hybrids) were sold. This trend has led SECO/WARWICK to enter the market with the world's first brand of aluminum brazing systems for the manufacture of battery coolers: the EV-CAB line.

“The growth of the electric vehicle industry made us decide to highlight our product and its purpose for this forward-looking industry. Hence the introduction of a new brand for the CAB line: the EV/CAB. The product name was intended to uniquely identify the product and link it to electromobility, while the accompanying tagline (SOLUTION FOR E-MOBILITY) was created to emphasize that our CAB line is a response to the current e-trend. The logo design remains in line with SECO/WARWICK's global CI (Corporate Identity), and the color scheme (green slash in place of a red one) references the ecology represented by e-mobility. EV/CAB is, as far as I know, the only dedicated brand of aluminum brazing furnaces for electric vehicles,” says Katarzyna Sawka, VP of Marketing of the SECO/WARWICK Group.

EV/CAB: a “must have” for the electromobility industry

SECO/WARWICK is the undisputed leader in CAB technology. There are hundreds of aluminum brazing lines with the SECO/WARWICK quality mark in operation around the world. The needs of the market have led the manufacturer to introduce a brand that responds to the expectations of heat exchanger manufacturers for the EV sector.

EV/CAB is a complete system that is suitable for the manufacture of oversized heat exchangers. With continuous operation, the system guarantees a smooth manufacturing process and high-efficiency performance. The greatest asset of this unsurpassed model is the perfect uniformity of temperature distribution across the width of the conveyor belt. As a result, you get perfect and reproducible parts, which is the key to manufacturing success.

“We have reached a technological level that is very difficult for other companies to reach. We have one of the best products on the market in the electromobility segment, as evidenced by the numerous orders we can already count in the dozens this year alone,” said Sławomir Woźniak, President of the Management Board of the SECO/WARWICK Group.

Dozens of EV/CAB orders

In the first half of 2022, a number of companies in this market placed orders for SECO/WARWICK equipment, including Jiangsu RIDEA, a global manufacturer specializing in heat exchangers.

“We are the global leader among manufacturers of lines designed for brazing heat exchangers. It is thanks to our furnaces that radiators for cars, vans, agricultural machinery, and power generators are made. As far as the electromobility industry is concerned, the radiators manufactured in our facilities supply the machinery for all the leading automotive corporations. The continued popularity of this technology is also evidenced by the fact that the product for this segment lived to see its own brand – EV/CAB, under which we assign solutions dedicated to electric vehicles,” specifies Piotr Skarbiński, Vice President of the Aluminum & CAB Products Segment at SECO/WARWICK Group.

EV/CAB lines have also been ordered by leading European automotive corporations.

“Cooperation with the largest companies, dynamic market growth, and the challenges of future technologies make it clear that innovation is in our DNA and is one of our values that will continue to be our determinant of growth,” concludes S. Woźniak.

Electric vehicle boom

The dynamic growth of the market is proven by data from the last 9 years. More electric cars were sold each week in 2021 than in all of 2012. The total number of electric cars worldwide by the end of 2021 was about 16.5 million. This is three times higher than in 2018. Such impressive growth has been achieved despite tensions in the global supply chain. Moreover, EV (electrical vehicles) sales continued to grow strongly in early 2022. In the first quarter, 2 million electric cars were sold worldwide. This is up 75 percent from the same period last year.

A factor that enables the strong sales growth last year was support for electric car purchases in many markets. Overall public spending on subsidies and incentives doubled in 2021 to nearly $30 billion. As the IEA points out, a growing number of countries have ambitious vehicle electrification targets for the coming decades. In 2021, five times more electric car models were available worldwide than in 2015, and by the end of 2021, the number of available models reached 450. Many electric car manufacturers are planning to electrify their fleets at a pace that exceeds national policy targets.
