Test System targets disk drive manufacturers.

Press Release Summary:

Comprised of DTR 3000 Spinstand, DTR 3000 RWA Read-Write Analyzer, and WDM 5044 Waveform Digitizer, DTR 3000 Test System uses Discrete Track Recording to test and report on various media technologies. Advanced mechanical system of spinstand can automatically center media to eliminate track eccentricity from up to 100 µm down to below 800 nm, while piezo actuator further minimizes repeatable run-out to below 5-7 nm. Typical Position Error Signal measurements are .2-.6 nm.

Guzik Releases New DTR 3000 Discrete Track Recording Test System

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 7 /-- Guzik Technical Enterprises today announced that they are accepting orders for their new DTR 3000 disk drive test system, which has the capabilities to test and report on the newest media technologies using Discrete Track Recording (DTR) and other preprinted servo information. The system's advanced features provide the test and measurement requirements that hard drive component suppliers and manufacturers need today to implement these new systems. And, true to the reputation of Guzik test equipment, the DTR 3000 will provide customers a lifetime of service as these technologies move into the mainstream and storage densities move beyond 700KTPI.

The DTR 3000 is a complete test system composed of the Spinstand DTR 3000, the Read-Write Analyzer RWA DTR 3000 series and the Waveform Digitizer WDM 5044 (also announced today). The advanced mechanical system of the spinstand can automatically center the media to eliminate track eccentricity from up to 100 micrometers down to below 800 nanometers. The piezo actuator further reduces the repeatable run-out to below 5 to 7 nanometers. This advanced design, with reduced reliance on the actuator movement for track following, significantly reduces noise and dramatically improves the accuracy of the measurements. For example, the typical Position Error Signal (PES) measurements are .2 to .6 nanometers.

CEO and company founder Dr. Nahum Guzik said, "We have been building test systems for the hard drive industry for almost 30 years. The DTR 3000 is based on our accumulated expertise and has the advanced mechanical precision to provide the most complete test solution for emerging DTR storage technologies."

The DTR 3000 system is available with a variety configuration options. More than 50 standard tests are included with the product as well as a developer's toolkit. Optional suites of tests are also available for order.
