Test System provides virtual environment.

Press Release Summary:

Control Interface performs virtual testing of control software and hardware systems by providing real-time, life-like conditions. It allows engineers to test and debug motion control software in environment where product movements look natural, and system gets feedback from virtual sensors. Engineers can also debug control software with step-by-step simulation. Simulation lets users make changes and then test how changes impact performance.

Lumeo Control Interface Provides Real-Life Interaction in Virtual Product Testing

Virtual testing of control systems in life-like conditions decreases product time-to-market and lowers costs

TORONTO, Canada and NEW YORK - February 25, 2002 - Lumeo(TM) Software, Inc. (Lumeo), a developer of interactive performance testing software, today announced at the Daratech Summit in New York the launch of Lumeo Control Interface, the first off-the-shelf tool that provides control engineers with a life-like environment for testing software and hardware.

Previously, control system testing and analysis required expensive custom-built virtual prototyping systems, but Lumeo Control Interface allows control engineers to test and debug motion control software in a realistic environment by connecting a real control system to Lumeo real-time simulations. The Lumeo Control Interface enables users to begin the testing and verification process with a virtual prototype, while still enjoying a realistic testing environment, resulting in faster time to market.

"The ability to test control software before a physical prototype is complete makes the entire design process more efficient," said Kalevi Sjoholm, vice president of technology of Loglift Oy, a Partek Company. "The life-like interaction created by the Lumeo Control Interface decreases costs and time spent, without diminishing the quality of the testing process." The Lumeo Control Interface not only mimics real-life testing, but also extends a control engineer's capabilities, allowing engineers to debug control software with an easy step-by-step simulation feature not possible with physical prototypes.

"Our customers have found that while using an external control device with Lumeo's interface, the simulated product movements not only look very natural, but customers also get instant measured feedback from the movements with Lumeo's virtual sensors. The realistic product testing early in the design phase also decreases the need for extensive control systems testing with actual prototypes," said Jari Strandman, president of Lumeo Software North America. "By allowing integrated, system-level testing, Lumeo Control Interface lets users make changes to a single engineering discipline and then test how those changes impact the performance of the entire product."

Lumeo Control Interface easily connects to existing control electronics with an optional industry standard connection. The interface, which complements Lumeo's flagship product, Lumeo Motion, is now available via ENGINEERING.com and RAND Worldwide. Pricing begins at $11,995 per seat.

About Lumeo Software
Lumeo Software, Inc. develops and supports interactive, real-time performance testing products that enable users to digitally test and demonstrate the behavior of their products and concepts before any material is cut. Lumeo was founded with the mission to bring high performance behavioral simulation software to a wider scope of design engineers than conventional applications allow. Lumeo software improves the final result of product development while reducing the costs of the process and time-to- market. Based in Finland, Lumeo also has North American headquarters in Toronto.
