Corning Cable Systems Introduces Series of Intelligent Handheld Test Equipment

OTS-400 series includes new feature-rich power meters, light sources and testers

HICKORY, N.C. Corning Cable Systems, part of Corning Incorporated's (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, introduces a new series of intelligent handheld test equipment. The OTS-400 series of intelligent and versatile optical meters, sources and testers offers simultaneous testing and storage of dual-wavelength attenuation measurements.

Corning Cable Systems OTS-400 series of handheld test equipment can be used during installation, system qualification and maintenance. The combination of practical features, simple operation, field performance and rugged design makes the OTS-400 series perfect for virtually all fiber optic testing environments.

The OTS-400 series meters, sources and testers are offered individually or packaged in test kits including two instruments, accessories, test jumpers and a carrying case. The most popular combination of port adapters and test jumpers has been pre-selected for each type of kit, allowing for immediate out-of-the-box testing. A wide variety of additional source and meter port adapters is available, along with other optional accessories.

The OTS-400 series features an auto testing function that provides automatic wavelength switching that cuts typical testing time in half. The test equipment eliminates field paperwork, storing up to 1000 measurements that can be separated into individual cables, panels or jobs. It includes a wide variety of source wavelength configurations, including dual-, triple- and quad-wavelength sources. The test equipment also offers USB data transfer to Windows-based PC software for storage, viewing and printing of test results.
