Terminal Block suits solid or stranded 26 AWG wire.

Press Release Summary:

PIVOT BLOCK, based on 3.5 mm centerlines, eliminates wire stripping and tool actuated termination. Wires are terminated to PIVOT BLOCK connectors with tool-less insulation displacement contact (IDC). IDC contacts are rated for up to ten wire insertion cycles. Technicians insert unstripped wire into wire stuffer and snap wire stuffer shut to complete termination. Test points for each contact are included on wire stuffer to allow field-testing.

New Pivot Block Terminal Block from Tyco Electronics Accepts Smaller Wire

HARRISBURG, Pa., June 6 - Tyco Electronics today introduced a PIVOT BLOCK terminal block suitable for solid or stranded 26 AWG wire. This new design, based on 3.5 mm centerlines, augments the existing PIVOT BLOCK terminal block product line. The original version of the PIVOT BLOCK terminal block accepted 22-24 AWG wire. The new version was developed so designers could connect the PIVOT BLOCK terminal block to smaller wires which are commonly found in power supplies, process controls, HVAC equipment and telecommunication equipment. The availability of two distinct wire configurations increases the product flexibility of this connector system.

PIVOT BLOCK terminal blocks offer engineers an alternative to screw clamp plugs and mate with 3.5 mm horizontal and vertical terminal block headers. Wires are terminated to PIVOT BLOCK connectors with a tool-less insulation displacement contact (IDC). The IDC contacts are rated for up to ten wire insertion cycles. Rather than screwing a cage clamp or other tool-actuated mechanism, technicians insert unstripped wire into a wire stuffer, snap the wire stuffer shut and the termination is complete. Wire stripping and tool actuated termination are eliminated. Test points for each contact are included on the wire stuffer allowing simple field-testing.
