Terberg's Electric Binlift Takes Top Honours at Pawrs Awards

Terberg Matec UK recently attended the prestigious 2011 PAWRS awards having been shortlisted in two categories against some strong competition from the Waste and Recycling industry. Whilst Terberg knew that had strong products in both categories, in the run up to the event they were still were half expecting to return empty handed.

As the awards evening arrived, excellently hosted by Sky Sports presenter John McDonald, Terberg's expectation turned out to be misfounded as Terberg's Sales Director Bob Doust and Marketing Manager Sheldon Hall proudly made their way to the stage to receive the Waste Management Product of the Year Award for their low voltage, electric binlift, the OmniDEL. The award was presented to Terberg by boxing legend John Conteh who entertained the room during the evening with stories and humorous anecdotes from a life in boxing.

Speaking on behalf of Terberg Matec, Sheldon Hall, said "The PAWRS awards is testament to the efforts of our research & development team, everyone involved in field trials and those responsible for developing the awareness and interest in the OmniDEL resulting not only in an excellent product but one that is already well known, highly regarded and sought after within the industry within a relatively short timescale."

Terberg's new electric binlift comes with a proven OmniDEL heritage will compliment the ever growing collective of alternative fuel and hybrid RCV's available but it is equally at home on traditional diesel powered RCV's.

The new lift employs a safe, low voltage 24v DC power system in contrast to alternatives that use potentially dangerous mains level voltages, it's also very quiet too with a low noise level of just 57dB(A), just below the level of a normal conversation!

Because the OmniDEL relies solely on electrical power for its operation it also lowers RCV vehicle fuel consumption, for a typical 1200 lifts per day collection round Terberg estimate that the OmniDEL will offer savings of up to 8% for the whole RCV (based on real life urban round results) when compared with a traditionally powered bin lift. All of which amounts to a significantly lower CO2 and PM10 output.

Terberg Matec say that the technology applied to the OmniDEL to create the OmniDEL is now being transferred to other bin lifts from their product range and hope to offer electric alternatives for these in the near future.
