Tension Controller aids in web unwinding and rewinding.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for web and strand processing applications, controller uses strain gage and LVDT load cells to measure actual tension of product. It comes with dual 4-20 ma output and Ethernet TCP/IP interface, and features WAVERSAVER, which ignores machine vibration to provide accurate signal; C2 electronic calibration; and automatic backup of configuration data. Users can interact with process via keypad, plant network, Palm PDA, or over plant network.

Hardy Instruments Debuts New Tension Control Product Line

San Diego, CA - Hardy Instruments, a leader in the process control industry, announces it's new line of Tension Control Products. This product line includes Hardy's new closed loop Tension Controller, which provides precision control over both unwinding and rewinding in web and strand processing applications.

At the front end of the control system, Hardy's strain gage and LVDT load cells measure the actual tension of the product, thus eliminating common problems found in web and strand processes including feathering, breaking, wrinkling or blocking. Now users can benefit from many of Hardy Instruments leading technologies, which are now available in the tension control product line.

While the standard Tension Controller is provided with a dual 4-20 ma output and Ethernet TCP/IP interface, optional network interfaces are also available, including Allen Bradley Remote I/O, DeviceNet, Profibus, ControlNet, and Modbus TCP.

The Tension Control products incorporate the following innovative features:

· WAVERSAVER: Ignores machine vibration to provide an accurate signal.

- Optimizes consistency, accuracy & product quality.

· C2 Electronic Calibration: Calibrates without the use of test weights.

- Eliminates extensive downtime and improves productivity.

· SMM (Secure Memory Module): Automatic backup of configuration data.

- Provides security of continuous back up of crucial process information.

· Hardy-Links Communications: Interact with the process via the keypad, plant network, Palm PDA or over the plant Network using an internet browser.

· Email Client: Automatically receive emails, text messages or pages when key events occur in the tension control.
