Larson Electronics Releases 10 KVA Temporary Power Distribution System on Wheeled Cart

Larson Electronics, a longtime leader in commercial and industrial grade lighting equipment, has announced the release of a portable power distribution system that converts 220 volts AC electrical current to 120 volts AC.

The MGL-220V-10KVA-120V-1X120.25A-1X120.35A portable power distribution system from Larson Electronics provides a safe and reliable way for operators in industrial settings to tap into and utilize power sources independently of the work area. This system provides operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 220 volts AC power from a variety of sources including generators and direct grid power. The transformer is designed to operate with 220 volts, single phase which is then stepped down to single phase 120 volts AC. Two-hundred feet of Type W line-in power cord is included to connect the substation to a primary 220 volt single phase power supply.

On the primary side, a 60-amp disconnect fused with two 60-amp time delay fuses provides the primary line-in protection and supplies the primary power to the 10 KVA transformer. The secondary current is wired to a 120 volt, single phase 80-amp load center with a main breaker for circuit protection. The 120 volt line-out protection is provided by one 25-amp, 125 volt, single pole breaker and one 35-amp, 125 volt, single pole breaker. The transformer and distribution assembly is mounted to a standard steel dolly cart style frame resulting in an extremely stable, durable, and mobile power distribution platform. Two rubber tires and a cart style mounting platform provide easier substation mobility, and a center point lift eye allows easy lifting with cable or chain hooks. This power distribution system is NEMA 3R rated, is certified to UL 1640 standards, and ideal for many indoor and outdoor applications.

“This unit provides an effective portable distribution system for operators performing plant turnarounds, maintenance and cleaning operations, equipment installations and repairs, and other activities requiring an alternative power source,” said Rob Bresnahan, CEO of Larson Electronics. “This system gives operators the ability to tap into 220 volts and operate 120 volt equipment safely.”
