Temperature Sensor offers plug-and-play operation.

Press Release Summary:

Combining IR temperature sensor with Smart microprocessor, Smart-microIRt/c offers 4 different sensor heads. Outputs include 4-20 mA, 0-5 V, 0-10 V, and RS232, and temperature ranges are -30 to 70°C, 0-100°C, 0-250°C, and 0-500°C. Powered from 12 or 24 Vdc, sensor features stainless steel head, hermetically sealed with NEMA 4X rating. While performing complex algorithms determining output, Smart processor calibrates itself once/sec, eliminating drift or sudden changes.

Original Press Release:

Exergen's microIRt/c is now Plug and Play!

Exergen Corporation, the leading manufacturer of infrared temperature sensors has
combined the smallest IR temperature sensor with the Smart microprocessor platform. By
combining the microIRt/c and the SmartIRt/c the smallest sized IR sensor head now has
brains, and precision in small places is a reality, with no impedance, leakage current, or cold junction compensation to worry about. The NEW Smart-microIRt/c's have 4 sensor heads to choose from, the microIRt/c (1:2 field of view), the microIRt/c.4 (4:1 FOV), microIRt/c.SV (1:2 FOV, side view), and microIRt/c.4SV (4:1 FOV, side view
with built in air purge). The self powered IRt/c's are the most reliable and world's only real t/c output sensors, they are very accurate at temperatures close to their calibration points only (~ +/- 20 °F), what the Smart-microIRt/c does is expand the 2% linear range. With the Smart microprocessor, these outputs and temperature ranges are available (4-20mA, 0-5V, 0-10V, RS232 from -30-70 °C 0-100 °C, 0-250 °C, 0-500 °C). They can be powered with either 12 or 24VDC, and the sensor head is stainless steel, hermetically sealed with a NEMA 4X rating. Small sized air purge jackets are available that will keep the sensor clean and cool to 175 °C.

The Smart processor is high speed and state of the art that will continuously monitor and adjust the complete system. While performing the complex algorithms determining the output, it also calibrates itself once every second eliminating drift or sudden changes. It's also programmed to automatically shift expected emissivity by 3% for every 100 °C increase in target temperature, improving the accuracy. Another feature is the Automatic Self Diagnostics, it will continuously monitor itself, the target and the environment and will output a set of signals informing the user if the target temperature is out of range, the ambient is outside its limits, power is low, heat flow is outside its limits, or local EMI noise makes any reading unreliable. Other IR temperature suppliers will calibrate for gain and offset, the Smart-micro's take into account the second order effects including sensitivity coefficients. The end result provides the best possible accuracy under all operating conditions, with a sensor head that can go where no other IR devices have gone before!
