Temperature Sensor has 4 stripped lead thermocouple inputs.

Press Release Summary:

Able to obtain temperature in °C for K, J, E, and T-Type thermocouples at rate of 25 S/sec, 1048 - PhidgetTemperatureSensor delivers thermocouple resolution of 0.1°C (K-type at 25°C) and 4 µV, with accuracy of 2°C (K-type). Sensor connects directly to computer's USB port, and features current consumption of 25 mA and USB device voltage of 4.75-5.25 Vdc. Users can program device using API supported under Windows 2000/XP/Vista/CE, as well as Mac OS X and Linux.

Original Press Release:

The New 1048 - PhidgetTemperatureSensor 4-Input Lets You Connect up to 4 Stripped Leads Thermocouples and Gets the Temperature in °C for K, J, E, and T-Type Thermocouples

The sensor connects directly to a computer's USB port.

CALGARY, Alberta - Phidgets Inc. released today the 1048 - PhidgetTemperatureSensor - 4 Input which can take up to 4 thermocouples with stripped ends that connect to the board's terminal blocks.

"We already sell a TemperatureSensor which accepts a Thermocouple with a Subminiature Flat Pin connector, and we decided to design a new board that would allow customers to use cheaper thermocouples with stripped ends that can be plugged directly into the board's terminal blocks." says Chester Fitchett, CEO of Phidgets.

"For those who only need a single thermocouple, the 1051 - PhidgetTemperatureSensor - Thermocouple input is a good solution at $60.00 CAD." says Bernard Rousseau, Director of Marketing. "The new version of the 1051 which is coming out soon, also uses terminal blocks for connecting the thermocouple to the board." Added Rousseau.
Users who prefer to use thermocouples with a miniature male connector can use a thermocouple adapter with stripped ends on one side and a female miniature female connector on the other.

Software Environment

"Unlike a lot of our competitor's products that require their users to write some firmware code in order to use their sensor, we are completely "Plug and Play" says Bernard Rousseau, Director of Marketing. "With Phidgets, you plug it in and start using it and when it comes to programming, the user, not us, decides which operating system and which computer language he wants to use", added Rousseau.

Users can program Phidgets using a simple yet powerful and well documented Application Programming Interfade (API) that is supported under Windows (2000, XP, Vista), Windows CE, Mac OS X, and Linux. Users can write programs in Visual Basic, VB.NET, C#, C/C++, Flash/Flex, Java, Labview, Matlab, ActionScript 3.0, and Cocoa.

Phidgets also provides programming examples for all its products to help programmers write their own programs. The API Libraries as well as the examples and the documentation are available at no charge on Phidgets.com.
