Temperature Sensor eliminates regular calibration checks.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for sanitary process control applications, TAD Series has stainless steel sensing tip that contains 2 RTD sensing elements with opposite characteristics to continuously monitor for drift. Compact, self-verifying sensors provide 4-20 mA analog signal of temperature and switching output to indicate when drift occurs. Offered in IP69K-rated 316 stainless steel housing, products offer adjustable drift warning and alarm levels via configuration software.

ifm efector Introduces Temperature Sensor that Eliminates Regular Calibration Checks

EXTON, PA - August 14, 2006 - ifm efector inc. announces a new line of compact, self-verifying temperature sensors designed for sanitary process control applications. The TAD Series temperature sensor provides continuous drift monitoring which eliminates regular calibration checks. When compared to a typical RTD/transmitter system that requires regular calibration checks, the TAD temperature sensor provides a significant savings over a five-year period. ifm backs up this claim with a 5-year warranty.

The innovative sensing technology is found in the TAD's stainless steel sensing tip that contains two RTD sensing elements with opposite characteristics (positive temperature coefficient vs. negative temperature coefficient) to detect drift. The sensor provides a standard 4...20 mA analog signal of temperature and a switching output to indicate when a drift occurs. The drift warning and alarm levels are adjustable using the sensor's configuration software. After the setpoints are established, the TAD continuously monitors temperature drift.

The sensor provides long-term, highly accurate temperature indication in critical sanitary applications found in the food and beverage industries. The flexible mounting system insures sanitary connection for all common process adapters.

The sensor's 316 stainless steel housing is rated IP69K and tested to withstand high pressure cleanings. The TAD sensor meets 3A and EHEDG requirements and its materials meet FDA regulation 21 CFR.

TAD temperature sensors transmitters are quick disconnect Micro DC units. Models are available with varying probe lengths and range in price from $435.00 to $450.00 (U.S.).
