Temperature Panel Meter Reads 7 Thermocouple and 2 RTD Types

Costa Mesa, CA - Laurel Electronics, Inc. announces the Laureate Model T, a UL-listed temperature meter/controller which is precalibrated for thermocouple types J, K, T, E, N, R and S, plus 100 ohm platinum RTD's with DIN or ANSI alpha. The thermocouple or RTD type, unit of measure (°C or °F) and resolution (1° or 0.1°) are user selectable from the front panel or via the unit's optional serial interface.

The entire published range for each temperature sensor is digitally calibrated at the factory. This eliminates the need for field calibration when changing sensors, or the drift caused by potentiometers in non-microcomputer based meters.

Cold junction compensation automatically corrects for temperature variations at the thermocouple reference junction at the meter. Open sensor indication is standard and may be set to indicate either upscale or downscale. RTD excitation is provided by the meter. RTD connections can be of the 2-, 3- or 4-wire type. For 3- and 4-wire connections, the meter automatically compensates for lead resistance of the sensor.

An optional board with dual 8A contract relays or dual solid state relays can add temperature alarm or setpoint control capability. Programmable relay operating modes include operation above or below the setpoint, latching or non-latching, hysteresis mode, and band deviation mode.

An optional analog output board with isolated 4-20 mA and 0-10V outputs can convert the meter to a highly linear current or voltage transmitter which tracks the displayed temperature reading. The analog output can be scaled to correspond to a user-selected temperature range, or to the entire range of the temperature sensor.

Optional RS232 or RS485 serial communications boards allow the meter/controller to communicate with a computer or PLC. With RS485, multipoint communications are fully supported using either the Modbus protocol or a simpler custom ASCII protocol.

All Laureate meters allow fast read rates at up to 60 conversions per second while integrating the input over a full power cycle. Fast read rates provide true readings and fast response for alarm, control and computer interface. Display of peak or valley value is user-selectable.

The base price is $210. For product specifications and the pricing of options, visit laurels.com/tcrtd.htm.
