Sensitech Introduces FreezeAlert(TM) Temperature Indicator for Freeze Sensitive Pharmaceuticals

BEVERLY, Mass., Oct. 3 - Sensitech Inc., a global leader in cold chain visibility solutions, has introduced the FreezeAlert(TM) indicator, a validated temperature indicator for protecting the last mile distribution of freeze sensitive pharmaceutical products. The FreezeAlert indicator combines the reliability and accuracy of electronic temperature measurement in a compact and easy to use device designed specifically for freeze sensitive supply chains. Sensitech is a wholly owned subsidiary of Carrier Corp., which is a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Global regulatory and standards based guidance documents, such as USP 1079, outline the need for the pharmaceutical industry to more closely monitor and manage risk in the last mile of the cold chain. Traditional products designed to meet this need provided ambiguous results and lacked validation. The new FreezeAlert indicator offers a more precise, easy to use and fully validated alternative.

"The new FreezeAlert temperature indicator is a welcome addition to our temperature indicator product line," said Jeff Hawkins, strategic marketing manager for Sensitech. "It expands our reach beyond the multi alarm TagAlert® indicator to freeze only applications that were historically served by chemical indicators. Our customers require temperature indicators that can be validated and calibrated to NIST traceable standards. Now we can provide this capability for cost competitive, single alarm freeze applications."

The FreezeAlert(TM) indicator offers custom time and temperature alarm thresholds, enabling customers to tailor settings to the specific requirements of their freeze sensitive products, reducing product risk and the potential for false alarms. The integrated LCD provides a simple user interface enabling immediate accept/reject decision making.

Sensitech's expanded family of electronic temperature devices helps to maintain and protect product quality and patient safety as well as enable compliance with Good Cold Chain Management Practices (GCCMP). Sensitech is working with global pharmaceutical leaders to reduce supply chain risk, deliver powerful insights and drive measurable process improvements.
