New Fluke 971 Temperature Humidity Meter Offers Accuracy, Data Storage and Full Range of Temperatures

Pocket size meter joins Fluke's growing array of indoor air quality test tools for HVAC and IAQ professionals

Everett, Wash. - Fluke Corporation, the world leader in handheld test and measurement products, has introduced the Fluke 971 Temperature Humidity Meter, a rugged, pocket sized test tool designed for professionals in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), building maintenance and indoor air quality (IAQ) fields. The Fluke 971 joins Fluke's expanding range of tools for air quality professionals.

The Fluke 971 measures temperature, dew point or wet bulb from -20 °C to 60 °C (-4 °F to 140 °F, ±1.0 °F) and measures relative humidity from 5 percent to 95 percent, ±2.5 percent RH.

Its 99-point data storage capacity means users can take multiple readings and store them for later analysis. The Fluke 971 Temperature Humidity Meter features a liquid crystal display with backlight and a low battery indicator. The unit operates on four AAA alkaline batteries.

Temperature and humidity are key variables in determining the performance of HVAC systems and the comfort of building occupants. In addition, the accumulation of moisture can generate high humidity levels that foster the growth of bacteria and mold, which in turn can cause health problems, financial liability and costly remediation challenges.

With its pocket-size convenience and durability, the Fluke 971 gives HVAC technicians and building managers an accurate, simple tool to ensure HVAC systems are operating within specification. Industrial hygienists will find it useful for identifying conditions that encourage biological growth, and verifying that measures to control humidity are working.

"Temperature and humidity are factors HVAC systems are designed to control. There's no easier way to verify system performance than the Fluke 971," said Rick Pirret, manager, Fluke Indoor Air Diagnostics. "Regulation of humidity and temperature can help keep employees comfortable and productive, and protect them from health issues that may arise when humidity is not carefully controlled."

Available at Fluke authorized distributors, the Fluke 971 Temperature Humidity Meter is priced in the US at $179. It comes with a protective holster and four AAA alkaline batteries. An optional carrying case is available.
