Original Press Release:

Selco/ECC's Electronic Technology Offers High Accuracy Temperature Control for Hot and Cold Temperature Applications

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Feb. 3, 2005 - Selco/ECC's new Hot and Cold Temperature Controllers offer high accuracy electronic temperature control for hot, cold or cold/defrost cycling for a variety of refrigeration and heater control applications. For about the same price, OEMs can now provide improved temperature precision by replacing traditional bulb and capillary temperature thermostats with electronic temperature sensing and control. Typical applications include commercial and consumer appliances, cooking equipment, refrigerated and frozen food storage, chillers, and HVAC equipment.

The new controllers are available in three configurations, Models 2696-C, 2697-C, and 2696-H. The Model 2696-C is designed for cold On/Off temperature control while the Model 2697-C provides cold control with the added functionality of Defrost Cycle control. These cold controllers provide high accuracy ON/OFF control for temperatures between -40°F and +50°F (-40°C and +10°C). The third model, the 2696-H, is designed specifically for hot On/Off control for temperatures between 32°F and 285°F (0°C and 140°C).

All three controllers provide a differential of 2°F, high accuracy thermistor temperature sensing of ±2°F, and a setpoint adjustment of 1°F resolution, which is set by potentiometer. Other performance characteristics include time control, user selection of temperature in °F or °C, small package size for easy OEM incorporation, and conformal coating for moist environments. Microprocessor-based technology assures high reliability and stability.

Power requirements are 85 to 145VAC 50/60Hz. Output is SPST relay rated at 15 or 30 Amp 240 VAC. Standard bi-color LED indicators for Model 2697-C are Green (relay off) and red (relay on). Optional features include a remote digital temperature display on Model 2697, and flashing red LED indicating over temperature condition on Model 2696-H. All three models are UL pending.
