Watlow's Series N7 Temperature Controllers Feature Powerful Processors and Advanced Communications

St. Louis - The new SERIES N7 temperature controllers from Watlow feature expanded communication options and a modular architecture, designed to meet requirements for use in a broad range of applications from foodservice to medical to plastics processing and semiconductor.

"The N7 is Watlow's newest platform controller," said Jason Waters, product manager of Watlow's custom controls marketing group. "It offers very flexible control to fit any market and just about any application. The N7 is ideal for convection ovens, deep fryers, cook-n-hold ovens, griddles and rotisserie and microwave ovens, and it also has uses in the medical, plastics and semiconductor industries."

The heart of the SERIES N7 is a powerful processor, featuring additional memory, designed to handle sophisticated control algorithms, as well as monitor and count various events. The new SERIES also boasts a modular design, enhanced communications, customizable inputs and outputs and a low voltage controller.

The modular design, which includes dual displays, increases the N7's flexibility and design options. The high voltage output module provides for up to six high voltage relays, while its custom firmware allows multiple applications in one controller. The N7's overlay can be easily modified to allow users to create a unique look with membrane switches and LEDs.

The SERIES N7 offers up to four sensor inputs, which can be customized to include thermocouples, RTDs or process inputs. Up to ten outputs provide ranges including open collectors, SSRs, electromechanical relays, no-arc relays, current and voltage.

The N7's Ethernet communications module enables NAFEM protocol options. Its enhanced communications are capable of flash downloading software, Modbus(TM) and PC communications. Other features include an ambient temperature rating of 80°C (176°F),
allowing the controller to withstand hot environments; an auto-tuning feature that simplifies tuning of PID parameters; and the option of vertical and horizontal orientations to meet multiple mounting requirements.

The Series N7 is UL® and C-UL® recognized and carries the EU LV and EMC directives for emissions and immunity.
