Telemetrics Brings Innovation to NAB with Camera Control Systems that Optimize Production

Display Highlights Software and Hardware Automation Tools that Combine Cost Efficiency with Innovation

Las Vegas, NV – Telemetrics is displaying its latest innovations in camera robotics and control solutions at NAB 2013. Leading off is Telemetrics' new Robotic Camera Control System that delivers broadcast professionals with a new benchmark in performance and efficiency for networked and stand-alone studio control operations. Also on display is the company's recently released TeleSoft Camera Control Automation Software to remotely operate Canon's BU Series and Sony's BRC Series PTZ cameras, as well as Telemetries' Pan/Tilt Fiber System which provides a low cost reliable solution for longer distance fiber connectivity to select Telemetrics robotic P/T heads.

"Tools that automate production are critical for broadcasters who want to optimize time and resources," said Anthony Cuomo, Vice President and General Manager, Telemetrics Inc. "Solutions like TeleSoft and the fiber transmission system we are featuring at NAB as well as our formidable line-up of automated camera control solutions are pivotal to the broadcaster's ability to do so."

Telemetrics new Robotic Camera Control System is comprised of the new RCCP-1 Robotic Camera Control Panel, Camera Shader Panel and EDCS Software.

• The network capable RCCP-1 Robotic Camera Control Panel supports RS-232 and Ethernet transmission with unlimited control locations. Camera control and functionality as well as control of auxiliary devices is provided through the panel’s integrated touch screen graphical user interface for ROP controls and is complemented by joystick for trim controls (pan, tilt, zoom, etc.) and special assignable knob control.

• The Camera Shader Panel offers a convenient and flexible solution for remotely matching multiple automated cameras. Featuring intuitive controls and a touch screen interface, the Panel can be controlled by single operators, groups or locations. Control for iris, master pedestal and shading as well as CCU functions of major camera brands including master gain, white gain, black level, gamma knee, masking and test bars are supported. Additional controls support environmental functions and auxiliary devices.

• The new EDCS Software provides enterprise level camera control utilizing a SQL database with configurable access control, providing seamless operation between multiple controllers. The system also provides remote access to all settings and functionality from any networked control location.

TeleSoft Camera Control Automation Software allows operators to work with a touchscreen or a mouse and a virtual joystick to have full control of up to eight cameras including storing up to 16 presets. The Windows™ based software can also be used with an optional DirectX Gaming joystick, complete with assignable buttons for P/T/Z/F.

Additional features include the ability to adjust CCU settings with automatic GUI indicators, direct serial control that complements the existing Device Server-Ethernet control system configuration and the availability of XY axis control slider bars.

Telemetrics also offers a hardware-based Camera Control Automation system for these cameras. The RCP-TS features a user-intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) with a joystick for camera pan, tilt, zoom, focus, iris and master pedestal control. A special assignable knob is used to control the GUI and CCU functions which emulate the camera manufacturer's setup panel.

Both systems provide control of a mix of Canon PTZ cameras including the NU-700, BU-45H and BU-50H. The systems can also be used to control Sony P/Z cameras, Telemetrics Robotic Pan/Tilt Heads and broadcast cameras.

The Pan/Tilt Fiber System from Telemetrics provides video transmission, genlock and remote/manual control capability for robotic P/T heads including the PT-RM-1, PT-CP-S4, PT-HP-S4 and PT-LP-S4 at distances of up to 10 kilometers. The system supports a variety of transmission formats including Ethernet control, HD/SD SDI video, and genlock via duplex single-mode fiber optic cable with LC connectors.

The system also permits the connection of duplex single-mode fiber optic cable, using standard optical LC-duplex connectors, with the opticalCON™ patch panel and low voltage hybrid cable from Neutrik. In addition to the flexibility and cost effectiveness of the opticalCON low voltage hybrid cable, it also delivers up to 290W of power to the pan/tilt head.

Also on display is the recently introduced HDSC-1 Robotics Specialty Camera that delivers the ideal combination of HD performance and value for integration with Telemetrics' comprehensive line of camera robotics systems. Compact and lightweight, the HDSC-1 features a Sony 3.27-megapixel CMOS image sensor (Exmor IMX036) and a Canon 20X zoom lens for extraordinary video image quality, color reproduction and focal range. It provides native 1920 x 1080 HD-SDI video outputs as well as SD composite video outputs in NTSC and PAL formats. Multiple camera systems can be genlocked and the cameras can be remotely controlled over a LAN or via RS-232C. A S/N ratio of 50dB and a sensitivity level of F5.6 at 2000 lux help to ensure high quality image output. For operator convenience, gain set-up is automatic with a manual override and up to five presets can be stored.

Telemetrics is also displaying its new TG4 TeleGlide Track System that features the ability to travel on straight track as well as curves, including "S" curves enabling unique camera travel paths. The system features a low profile trolley design for less obtrusive installations, which is also ideal for low studio ceilings. Track is available in custom turn radiuses and lengths to meet specific installation requirements. The TG4 TeleGlide Track System also accommodates Telemetrics EP5 Elevating Pedestals and is compatible with the company’s comprehensive line of Pan/Tilt Heads and studio control software solutions. Positional feedback is also provided to interface with virtual set applications.
