Telecentric Lens suits metrology and machine vision.

Press Release Summary:

When coupled to 2/3 in. format CCD, 0.08X MVO® Lens offers 4 in. horizontal field of view. Working distance ranges from 170-220 mm with resolution of more than 45% at 40 line pairs/mm. Telecentricity is less than 0.2° over entire working distance range, and maximum distortion is under 0.35%. Depth of field is ±105 mm at F12. Both aperture and focusing adjustment positions can be fixed by setscrews to remain secure in high-vibration environments.

Edmund Industrial Optics Announces New MVO 0.08X Telecentric Lens

March 30, 2004, Barrington, NJ - Edmund Industrial Optics (EO) of Barrington, New Jersey has announced the release of a lens with the largest field-of-view yet in Edmund's family of MVO® Telecentric Lenses. These lenses are ideal for metrology and machine vision applications because they are free of perspective error and magnification changes within a defined depth of field. The maximum field of view is directly related to the front aperture of the telecentric lens.

The new 0.08X MVO® Telecentric Lens, when coupled to a 2/3 inch format CCD, offers a 4" horizontal field of view, which is much larger than the previous field of view (71mm at 0.125X) available from this line of lenses. The working distance ranges from 170 to 220mm, resolution (MTF image space at F6) is more than 45% at 40 line pairs/mm. The lens' telecentricity is less than 0.2 degrees over the entire working distance range and maximum distortion is under 0.35%. The depth of field (20% at 20 lp/mm) is ±105mm at F12. The f/# ranges from F6 to closed for maximum light collection. Both the aperture and focusing adjustment positions can be fixed by set screws to remain secure in high-vibration environments.

The 0.08X MVO® Telecentric Lens measures 160mm in diameter and 278mm in length. The weight and center of gravity of the lens make it unsuited to system mounting from the camera, so it is provided with a clamp to ease alternative mounting. Filters, polarizers, or other components can be mounted in front of the lens via threads on the lens housing.
