Three new business continuity/disaster recovery services support the needs of SME and large enterprises, placing TelCove in industry leadership position
Only competitive service provider to offer IP storage transport services for storage area network extension
PITTSBURGH, Pa., Sept. 19 / -- TelCove, a leading provider of business critical telecommunications services to enterprise customers and carriers, today announced the introduction of three new On-Net Business Continuity storage services for small, medium, and large customers including: TelCove's E-Vaulting service, TelCove's Remote Shared Storage service, and TelCove's IP Storage Transport service. These new services significantly expand the TelCove business continuity/disaster recovery (BC/DR) transport solutions introduced earlier this year. elCove is the only competitive communications provider to develop and offer this robust array of business continuity capabilities.
"The Yankee Group projects that the storage networking market will continue to grow during the next several years, with a five-year compound annual growth rate of about 10% through 2008. Storage networks continue to be heavily used for supporting Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery applications. This projected growth demonstrates the value enterprises place on their data and the market potential for storage network and BC/DR services," said Stephanie Balaouras, senior analyst at the Yankee Group.
"TelCove's announcement today, its incorporation of EMC Corporation elements into its solutions and its existing BC/DR and transport portfolio, positions TelCove to become a clear BC/DR leader in the 70 markets it serves. Yankee Group believes that TelCove has a unique opportunity to capture significant pent-up demand for sophisticated BC/DR solutions among both large and mid-size businesses," said Ms. Balaouras.
New TelCove BC/DR Products
The following new additions to TelCove's On-Net Business Continuity portfolio are now available in all 70 TelCove markets:
o TelCove's E-Vaulting service: This service connects the customer to TelCove's secure, on-net, remote storage facility where its data is backed up on TelCove's EMC CLARiiON storage platform. TelCove provides customers with EMC(R) Dantz(R) Retrospect(R) software to manage back-up/recovery activity on the EMC storage system. This service supports a range of recovery options from the single-file level to a complete 'bare-metal' restore for all targeted servers, desktops, and notebooks.
o TelCove's Remote Shared Storage service: With this service, a customer is connected to TelCove's remote storage location, and data is backed up to dedicated capacity on TelCove's EMC CLARiiON(R) storage platform using the back-up/recovery software of the customer's choosing.
o TelCove's IP Storage Transport service: FCIP (Fibre Channel over IP) over TelCove's transport services facilitate Storage Area Network (SAN) extensions. Using an FCIP enabled transport service, customers can extend their SANs over greater distances to meet BC/DR location requirements and leverage remote storage. TelCove also offers iSCSI (Internet Small Computer Storage Interface) enabled transport services to create IP SANs for location-independent data storage and retrieval.
These services can be purchased stand-alone or together to support various enterprise BC/DR applications, needs and network topologies.
TelCove's On-Net Business Continuity portfolio of services leverage TelCove's core competencies: putting customers directly on the TelCove fiber network -- or "On-Net" -- and providing a full set of TelCove managed communication services. Unlike other providers, TelCove owns and operates its network "door-to-door" from the TelCove point of presence to the customer premise for complete control over service delivery. This approach eliminates a significant, potential point of failure that is created when a provider relies on another carrier for the last mile -- which is a critical consideration for BC/DR implementations.
TelCove's new On-Net Business Continuity portfolio provides all of the components necessary to back-up data off site, including EMC storage, software and SAN switching devices, as well as TelCove's premium, high-availability fiber-optic network. These offerings enable enterprises of all sizes to meet a variety of data recovery objectives while reducing the total cost of ownership for BC/DR solutions. Customers benefit from TelCove's fully redundant, self-healing network that is backed by a 100% data service level agreement (SLA), which is vital for BC/DR applications.
TelCove's new additions to the portfolio of On-Net Business Continuity services will be attractive to the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) market, which now must seriously pursue business continuity measures, many due to government regulations, storage growth, and increased deployment of mission critical applications that demand much shorter recovery time windows. Additionally, enterprises are looking for a single-source provider for remote storage services to help them move data off-site and replace existing tape backup and vaulting solutions that no longer provide adequate reliability, recovery or security.
"We took TelCove's premium approach to the network and applied it to our new BC/DR services by selecting EMC as our provider of choice for the storage- related hardware and software. Our customers demand high availability from our network, and we must deliver that same level of service for the applications we provide on the end of our network. EMC has the experience and products necessary to meet these requirements," added Craig Drinkhall, TelCove's senior vice president of product development and engineering.
TelCove is now supplying a number of key IP-based transport and core data and voice services demanded by evolving, distributed businesses models and organizations. With today's announcement, TelCove now offers an array of Ethernet, IP/VPN, VoIP, and BC/DR services. These services align with TelCove's strategy to provide next generation communication transport and services to continually enhance enterprise efficiency and productivity.
