Telco Systems Showcases Multi-Vendor Based Ethernet/MPLS Network Service Management

MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2012

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC) and provider of multi-service Carrier Ethernet and MPLS access, cloud networking and demarcation solutions, has announced a breakthrough in managing multi-vendor Ethernet/MPLS services end-to-end across third-party core equipment. The Company's EdgeGenie Service Management System successfully managed services in an MPLS network over 3rd party core devices during the EANTC Interoperability Showcase being held at MPLS and Ethernet World Congress in Paris this week.

"Managing multiple services across multiple vendors and multiple technologies is one of the biggest challenges that service providers face today. We've shown here that providers can use Telco Systems' MPLS solution at the edge with other core vendors using point and click service management"

The interoperability tests were based on G.8032 Ethernet rings and an MPLS VPLS cloud creating a combined MPLS VPLS and Ethernet Layer 2 interworking scenario monitored by EdgeGenie. Telco Systems products successfully achieved carrier grade switchover times below 50 ms when the signal reached a defined degradation threshold across multiple vendors' equipment. These changes of the service path were monitored in real time and reported by EdgeGenie. By providing both LoS and CFM protection over interconnected MPLS and Ethernet rings, EdgeGenie enables service providers to maintain a highly reliable and dynamically responsive network with end-to-end service assurance and service-protection.

"Managing multiple services across multiple vendors and multiple technologies is one of the biggest challenges that service providers face today. We've shown here that providers can use Telco Systems' MPLS solution at the edge with other core vendors using point and click service management," said Nir Daube, Vice President of product line management for Telco Systems. " By implementing a seamless interoperating Ethernet and MPLS network using unified service management, carriers can easily add new services to their customers while lowering their operating expenses."

Telco Systems' EdgeGenie Service Management System offers a complete solution for planning, managing, monitoring and maintaining Ethernet services. An advanced planning tool allows the operator to model "what if" scenarios to predict how network changes will affect service delivery. With EdgeGenie, providers not only visualize how services are being transported across networks but how changes to their topology will affect the existing operational network. EdgeGenie maximizes network resources by utilizing sophisticated path computation algorithms to ensure ongoing optimization. A next-generation GUI navigational design stream lines and simplifies complex operational procedures for network operators.

A live demonstration of the management of these services over MPLS/Ethernet using EdgeGenie will be available during the EANTC Interoperability Showcase at MPLS & Ethernet World Congress in Paris, February 7-10. As a silver sponsor of the event, Telco Systems is located in booth 217 on the exhibition floor.
