Tektronix Demonstrates Products and Technologies for Innovation in the New Digital World at IBC 2007

Hosts Awards Ceremony to Celebrate Official Launch of the Cerify Developer Community

BEAVERTON, Ore., Sept. 7 / / - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE:TEK), a leading, worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, is demonstrating product and technology solutions across its portfolio at IBC 2007, September 7-11, 2007 on stand 9.530. The company is presenting and demonstrating solutions ideally suited to SD and HD, along with IPTV and next-generation compression technologies such as H.264 designed to assist members of the video ecosystem in solving today's digital delivery and quality challenges.

3Gbit/s Test & Measurement Demonstration Highlights Safe Passage to the Near Future

Tektronix is providing a view into the near future with an industry-first demonstration of 3Gbit/s test and measurement capabilities. The company is demonstrating 3Gbit/s waveform and jitter measurements using a commercially available board with 3Gbit/s output as stimulus and a high-speed Arbitrary Waveform Generator. While Dual Link, which provides two linked 1.5 Gbit/s connections, has proved itself a viable interim solution, synchronization issues dictate that in the longer term it will prove unsatisfactory for many. Progression to 3Gbit/s SDI technology is the next step for the industry. The demonstration provides an opportunity for visitors to see first hand the challenges faced by the industry with these high-speed links and the move to 3Gbit/s technology.

IP Stream Playout Demonstration Highlights Support for Emerging IPTV Standards

Tektronix is demonstrating the addition of IP stream playout to its compressed video generation capabilities. The new IP capability being shown enables generation of MPEG transport streams over an IP network and supports emerging standards such as IP version 6 and TTS. It also provides advanced test features such as injection of physical layer impairments, including statistical packet jitter distribution, injection of errors at different layers of the protocol stack, stream replication to multiple destinations, flexibility to configure transmission parameters to match individual network implementations and advanced time stamping with continuous looping support.

IP is a major technology inflection within the broadcast delivery value chain. The adoption of IP as a key physical interface for video delivery means there is a need to provide test equipment that can be used to verify the broadcast chain performance of both IP and video, each of which may have very different operating constraints.

Cerify Developer Community Awards Announced at IBC 2007

Tektronix is also celebrating the official launch of the Cerify Developer Community - a group of companies that are working together to provide file-based quality control for content stored on servers. Many server and automation companies have joined over the past year and now interface directly with Tektronix Cerify via its CeriTalk API . The Cerify Developers Community Award ceremony, which celebrates the work done so far, will take place on Saturday 8th September, 11 to 11.30 am at the Tektronix stand (9.530).

Cutting Edge Conference Presentation by Tektronix' Kevin Ferguson

Tektronix is providing conference attendees with an opportunity to discover how the human vision model, long used as a subjective video test procedure involving human viewers, has been quantified and enhanced. This enabling software technology is now available as part of the PQA500 picture quality analyzer. This requires a complex model that can adapt as the human vision system does, taking into account different displays, viewing conditions, video context and formats, along with a method for adapting quality scales as humans do in subjective quality rating training and conditioning. The paper will be delivered by Kevin Ferguson, a Principal Engineer with the company's Video Test Product Line, on Monday, 10th September at 10:00am during the Cutting Edge session.

Other highlights on the Tektronix stand include:

o The PQA500 Picture Quality Analyzer - a new generation picture
quality analysis tool that incorporates eight new Tektronix patents
and embodies the most comprehensive human vision model yet
implemented.

o New features and capabilities for the MTS400 Series MPEG Transport
Stream Analyzers will be on display including enhanced support for
IPTV and H.264 stream generation and analysis.

o Cerify, the world's first fully automated system capable of verifying
the quality of file-based, compressed digital video and audio content
prior to transmission or use is now available with new, faster dual
core processors, increased memory, and faster I/O.

o The MTM400 Transport Stream Monitor Remote User Interface (RUI) has
been enhanced to provide video thumbnail decode with display of
Elementary Stream header parameters to check correct signaling of
content type, resolution, aspect ratio etc

o Tektronix has now added full featured dual link monitoring capability
to the Tektronix family of integrated Waveform Monitors and
Rasterizers.

o New waveform monitors (WFM7120/7020/6120) and enhanced rasterizers
(WVR7120/7020/6020) expand on the features of the current
generation of products that now provide the award winning Audio to
Video Delay measurement, the cure to lip-sync problems.

o The AMM768 Multi-format Audio Monitor is an advanced, multi-format
audio monitor that provides the performance and flexibility that is
needed in today's audio monitoring environment.
