Tektronix Cerify Wins 'Outstanding Product Award' at BIRTV 2007
World's First Fully Automated Verification System for File-Based Digital Video and Audio Content Recognized for Excellence
BEAVERTON, Ore., Oct. 3 -- Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that Cerify, the world's first fully automated system capable of verifying the quality of file-based, compressed digital video and audio content prior to transmission, has received the "Outstanding Product Award" in the video production and broadcasting category at BIRTV 2007 held recently in Beijing, China.
The BIRTV Outstanding Product Award is designed to recognize the most innovative products and products with the most practical applications. Comprised of professional scholars, experts and authorities, the review committee for the BIRTV Awards reviews and evaluates the nominated products. These results are then complemented by online voting at the website of the BIRTV Organizing Committee. These awards are the indicators for the future developments of radio, TV technologies and the guideline for their purchase.
Initiated in 2005, the BIRTV Awards serves the purpose of strengthening the technical advisory role of the BIRTV organization and provides positive guidance to the industry for new technology promotion and equipment purchase. According to the BIRTV Awards Evaluating Committee: "In order to fully capitalize on the benefits of file-based production and playout, broadcasters must ensure that their material is intact in terms of encoding, data structure and video/audio baseband quality. Manual inspection is often prone to error.
