Guelph, ON, Canada - TCA Technologies Inc. announced that it has completed a major contract to design and supply a component manufacturing and testing system for Dana Holding Corporation, a Tier One supplier to the Chevrolet Volt program.
Dana is supplying its Long® internal battery cell coolers on the first advanced lithium-ion battery for a mass-marketed electric vehicle - General Motors Company's Chevrolet Volt. TCA was awarded the contract by Dana to design and supply a high-throughput system that would accept the Dana battery cell cooler components, perform additional assembly functions and subject 100% of the components to performance and quality testing. Due to the high volume of components to be processed, TCA chose to develop a system that incorporated robotic part handling.
"TCA has had a long-standing relationship with Dana and we are extremely pleased to have been chosen for this important program," said David Nelson, President of TCA Technologies Inc. "The Chevrolet Volt is the 2011 North American Car of the Year and represents a significant advancement in automotive technology. Dana's efficient and recyclable battery cell coolers contribute to this advancement and we are delighted that Dana chose to rely on TCA's ability to design, supply and support innovative and dependable manufacturing systems."
