Tasktop for Visual Studio brings Eclipse Mylyn ALM interoperability to the .NET developer community

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Tasktop Technologies (tasktop.com), creators of the Eclipse Mylyn project and a leader in Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) integration and productivity, today announced Tasktop for Visual Studio. Now available in beta, with general availability scheduled for the first quarter of 2011, the new product will bring Tasktop's award winning task management system and ALM integration and federation to Visual Studio users. Tasktop for Visual Studio integrates the Mylyn framework into the Visual Studio IDE and provides access to the wide range of Tasktop Certified task, change and Agile project management solutions, including the recently released HP Quality Center.

"With Mylyn having transformed the way that developers work in the Eclipse IDE, we are thrilled to start providing the benefits of task-focused collaboration to all those who have requested this functionality in Visual Studio," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "This beta release provides Mylyn's task management functionality within Visual Studio and layers on Mylyn's unique collaboration features, enabling developers to plan and communicate with their team without leaving Visual Studio."

With this new beta release, development teams using Visual Studio gain access to the broad range of Mylyn integrations that are available, including HP Quality Center and ALM, IBM Rational Team Concert, Bugzilla, Trac, Mantis, Rally, ThoughtWorks Studios, VersionOne, Accept 360, CollabNet, Perforce, Polarion and JIRA. This release also builds on Tasktop's recently announced support for Microsoft's Team Foundation Server and long-term partnership with Microsoft's Interoperability Group. Tasktop is a Visual Studio Premium Partner.

By providing traceability and knowledge sharing between a wide variety of tools and platforms, Tasktop helps reduce the complexity and challenges of successfully scaling Agile programs beyond small teams. Organizations using Tasktop are able to integrate and gain added value from heterogeneous systems, improve the happiness and productivity of development teams, and integrate and manage emerging technology platforms, such as cloud computing and mobile applications, into existing development practices.
