Tapestry Solutions Awarded Cargo Load Planning Contract by Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command
Tapestry Solutions Inc. was awarded a contract to provide cargo load planning software to the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) under the Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES) contract. The two-year contract is valued at $16.98 million.
ICODES was developed by Tapestry's Defense Products Group. The tool provides end-to-end supply chain visibility through automated ontology-based information extraction, visualization, in-transit cargo visibility, and distribution forecasting and planning utilizing business intelligence methodologies.
According to Tony Rigazzi, Tapestry’s Vice President, Defense Products, “the service-oriented architecture platform of ICODES, combined with intelligent agent technology that automates processes previously performed manually, has greatly increased the speed and accuracy of air, ship and rail load-planning operations throughout the military.”
ICODES currently serves as the Single Load-Planning Capability (SLPC) for the Department of Defense, linking load-planners throughout the enterprise with each other and with authoritative data sources for near real-time collaboration in support of Joint Forces deployment and distribution operations. It aims to optimize logistics and supply chain management by incorporating expert computer agents that offer technical solutions to complex problems. ICODES was cited in the 2012 Congressional Report on Defense Business Operations as one of 10 examples of programs that have positively contributed to military logistic deployment operations.
