Tandberg Data Launches Compact, Scalable, Enterprise-Class Tape Library for SMBs at Autoloader Price

POWAY, Calif.--Oct. 3, 2005--Tandberg Data Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tandberg Data ASA (OSE:TAD), today announced the new Tandberg S24(TM) tape library featuring 9.6TB to 19.2TB (2:1 compressed) in a 4U form-factor. The first Tandberg Data multi-drive model available in North America, it delivers tape library functionality and enterprise-class performance at a very affordable cost to budget-constrained small and mid-sized enterprises.

The Tandberg S24 tape library supports multiple generations of LTO drive technology and has an intuitive, user-friendly interface for system setup, control and monitoring. The library has an integrated barcode reader and is available with SCSI, iSCSI, or native fibre connectivity. The built-in partitioning feature enables the Tandberg S24 to operate as two separate autoloaders for even greater value and convenience. For cost-sensitive situations, the library can be purchased with one drive and expanded after installation.

"Faced with an explosion of data and government data-retention regulations, SMB customers are outgrowing their single drive and older-generation autoloaders, but might not be able to afford the typical high price tag of a large library," said Ken Cruden, COO, Tandberg Data Corp. "The Tandberg Data S24 gives users the ability to automate the handling of multiple cartridges and to handle the high data retention required today and provides enterprise-class performance and functionality at an affordable, entry-level cost. This addition to the Tandberg Data portfolio reinforces our commitment to provide our channel partners options for their customers to expand while assuring user-friendly 'no-manual' operation and upgrade options for advanced management."

The Tandberg S24 tape library comes with a three-year "Fast Exchange" warranty, guaranteeing that a replacement for a defective unit will be shipped the within 24 hours. Optional on-site services are also available. The plug-and-play installation of a second drive, remote management and storage networking support provide trouble-free upgrade options.

The Tandberg S24 is available with one or two drives, using LTO2 or LTO3 Ultrium technology. The LTO3 S24 is also available with WORM support, and for SAN solutions with native fibre channel connectivity. Anytime, anywhere administration is facilitated with a Web-based remote management feature and icon-based controls provide straightforward, user-friendly navigation.

MSRP for the S24 starts at $10,889 for a unit with a single LTO2 drive with immediate availability through Tandberg Data's national distribution network.
