IBM VXA-2 Tape Drive - Delivers a High-Speed, Large-Capacity, Half-High SCSI Tape Drive at Reasonable Cost
Overview
The new VXA-2 Tape Drive option offers a cost-effective solution for IBM eserver xSeries(TM) customers looking for an efficient low-cost tape product. This single drive tape has 80 GB³ drive capacity and up to 160 GB in compression. The VXA tape drive will complement the IBM xSeries server line.
This tape drive is a reliable rack-mount tape unit that supports Ultra2 low-voltage differential (LVD) SCSI connections of up to 80 MB/s. It provides convenience and ease-of-use features, while
supporting high-speed tape backup and up to 160 GB of data storage in compressed model.
Normally reserved for more expensive tape drives, IBM is
offering the following features as standard on their new VXA-2 tape drive:
o Up to 6/12 MB/s transfer rate.
o Up to 80/160 GB capacity.
o SCSI interface.
o The drive and power supply are in one removable field replaceable unit (FRU).
o Limited three-year warranty: three years on parts and zero labor unless installed in a rack or server when purchased. Then it carries the same warranty as the rack or server.
Trial Software
To get you started quickly, a trial version of popular tape backup software is included with the VXA tape drive. Included are:
o Veritas Backup Exec for NT/Win
o Veritas Backup Exec for NW
o Computer Associates Arcserve IT 2000 for Win2K
o Computer Associates Arcserve IT for Linux (Red Hat and SuSE)
