IBM LTO FH Generation 3 Tape Drive Offers Data Storage Capacity for Your IBM eServer xSeries Servers
Overview
LTO Generation 3 SCSI Tape Drive
The Linear Tape Open (LTO) SCSI tape drive joins the IBM family of LTO tape offerings available for IBM eServer® xSeries® servers.
Take advantage of solid performance, excellent data storage capacity, and a high-density form factor while using popular LTO backup technology.
This attractively priced, offering in LTO technology is a new benchmark for mid- to high-end IBM eServer® xSeries servers requiring high-capacity, high-performance, and high-reliability tape solutions in a 5.25-inch, full-high form factor. Using its onboard hardware data compression feature, and assuming a 2:1 compression ratio, this drive can store up to 800 GB2,3 per cartridge, at a backup rate of up to 160 MB/s.
It delivers solid performance through attachment to a supported U160 or U320 low-voltage differential (LVD) SCSI adapter or onboard controller.
Key prerequisites
· Ultra160 controller or Ultra320 SCSI adapter
· An available full-high drive bay or supported enclosure
Planned availability date
May 19, 2005, for LTO3

2 When referring to tape drive capacity, GB stands for one billion bytes. Total user-accessible capacity may vary depending on operating environments.
3 Based on using onboard hardware data compression feature and assuming a 2:1 compression ratio. Data compression is dependent on many factors and is often less than stated.
