AVX Tantalum Polymer Capacitors Improved to Deliver Industry's Highest Capacitance Values

Capacitance value increases while case sizes shrink

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (December 9, 2005) - Allowing design engineers to further reduce the size of portable electronic devices, AVX recently developed new tantalum polymer capacitors that deliver the highest capacitance value capability available. Designated the TCJ Series, the newest capacitors are one to three capacitance value (CV) levels higher than other devices on the market. AVX can now offer 10uF 6.3v in 0805, 47uF/6.3v in 1206 and 100uF 4v in 1206 size.

"As components continue to shrink to meet the needs of the portable device market, AVX is committed to increasing the electrical performance as well," said Dan Lane, AVX Tantalum Marketing Manager. "These high CV capacitors in 0805 and 1206 cases allow for advanced functionality for applications such as PDAs, cell phones and laptop computers."

The capacitors offer an operating voltage up to 12V, a 125°C operating temperature range and guaranteed ESR. They can also withstand three times reflow profile up to 260°C and comply with RoHS requirements.

Typical pricing ranges from $0.200 to $0.520 in quantities of 10,000, with lead times from 8 to 10 weeks and samples available immediately.
