Leviton Introduces Industry's First Tamper-Resistant Receptacle with Built-In Surge Protection

Melville, NY, October 21, 2009 - Leviton Manufacturing is the first company in the electrical industry to offer tamper-resistant surge protective receptacles that comply with NEC Section 406.11 and UL 1449's 3rd Edition. The industry-leading devices feature protective shutters that accept only a two-prong (with or without ground pin) electrical plug, while also providing built-in surge protection for a facility's sensitive electronics.
The new devices are available in commercial/industrial and hospital grade versions in 15 Amp and 20 Amp, 125 Volt ratings. A wide variety of color choices helps users identify different types of connected equipment and applications. Hospital Grade devices feature tight plug tolerances to reduce the possibility of critical care equipment becoming accidentally disconnected.
