Systron Donner Inertial Awarded Mk48 Heavyweight Torpedo IMU Contract from Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC)

Concord, CAÂ – Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), Newport, RI has awarded a contract to Systron Donner Inertial (SDI), a brand of Custom Sensors Technologies (CST), for an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) integral to the Guidance and Control Assembly (GC) required for the Mk48 Heavyweight Torpedo Program.
The core of SDI’s solution is its SDI500 IMU and SDD3000 single-axis gyro, both delivering true tactical grade performance with <1º/hr. bias stability across full temperature, class leading 0.02º/hr. angle random walk and 1 mg accelerometer bias performance. The compact, low power, high quality SDI500/SDD3000 IMU package enables superior guidance and control of the Mk48 Torpedo during in-water maneuvers, plus improves system cost-effectiveness, reduced obsolescence and increased sustainability for NUWC.

The contract value is $1.8 million. Work is to be completed by December 2015.
