KAMAN¹S SENSING SYSTEM DETECTS THREADS WITHOUT CONTACT

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado < December 4, 2001 - Kaman
Instrumentation's KD-2440 Thread Detection System provides reliable and repeatable thread detection for nearly all thread specifications, making it ideal for the metal forming and fabricating industries. The system successfully detects UNC, UNF, ISO coarse and ISO fine threads via inductive technology that measures without touching the object.

The Thread Detection System operates by the insertion of the sensor into a tapped hole. The sensor is able to distinguish between the tap drill diameter of an untapped hole and the pitch diameter of a tapped hole. The sensor then sends an analog output through the system electronics indicating the detected characteristics.

Kaman's KD-2440 system features high resolution for detection of fine-pitch threads, adjustable gain analog output, and adjustable switched output. Also, 10KHz frequency response, low switch point hysteresis, and 12-24 Vdc input.

Kaman offers the Thread Detection System with a choice of four sensors in sizes from 0.08-inch diameter to 0.45-inch diameter. All sensors are rugged and reliable inductive technology that is unaffected by environmental contaminants, such as drilling oil, grease, humidity, etc.

Kaman Instrumentation, an operating unit of Kaman Aerospace, leads the industry in solving difficult industrial sensing applications when the target cannot be touched.
