Original Press Release:

PFU Systems(TM) Takes the Lead with Industry's First 1.8 GHz System-on-Module with Intel® Pentium® M Processor 745

Plug-N-Run(TM) G3 System-on-Modules are the industry's first modules that provide full scalability up to 1.8 GHz with the Intel® Pentium® M processor 745 for embedded solutions.

Santa Clara, CA, June 1, 2004 - PFU Systems, Inc., manufacturer of System-on-Modules for embedded solutions, announced today industry's first System-on-Modules with the new Intel® Pentium® M processor 745, running at a top speed of 1.8 GHz, for high-performance embedded applications. With these Plug-N-Run G3 modules PFU Systems is the only manufacturer able to offer a truly scalable line of modules based on the Intel® 855GME chipset. Scalability comes with PFU Systems' reputation for building very high quality computer products for demanding embedded applications. Some of the more challenging embedded applications well served by the 1.8 GHz Plug-N-Run G3 modules are VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), VoD (Video-on-Demand), network storage and network security control-plane processing. Other applications include compact medical diagnostic imaging, mobile ultrasound, advertising, kiosk and compact C4 defense solutions. The modules enable OEM designers to quickly adopt advanced host processor technology, while remaining focused on their core competency in application specific software and I/O.

"The 1.8GHz Plug-N-Run G3 boosts performances higher than other mobile processors," said Kishan Jainandunsing, vice president marketing of PFU Systems, Inc. "This higher performance is a result of the Intel® Pentium® M processor 745's improved integer and floating point performance and the 2MB on-die L2 cache. With an average of less than 6 Watts active dissipation at lower Intel Speedstep® frequencies, such performance can now be harnessed in dense, embedded systems with minimal fan requirements."

"The Plug-N-Run G3 modules from PFU Systems are an excellent example of the scalability possible with the Intel® 855GME chipset and the Intel® Pentium® M and Intel® Celeron® M processor families," said Ton Steenman, general manager, Embedded Intel Architecture Division, Intel Corporation. "Our advanced 90nm process technology combined with micro-ops fusion, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology and a host of other power management technologies makes it possible to realize the high performance and low power benefits of the Intel® Pentium® M processor 745 at 1.8 GHz."

Main Features

These include the Intel® Pentium® M processor 745 at 1.8 GHz, the Intel® 855GME chipset, memory expansion up to 1GB PC2700 ECC memory, quad digital video outputs, PCI bus, USB 2.0, ATA100 IDE, LPC bus, SMBus, serial ports, GPIO, VGA, 50G and 2.2G shock and vibration, respectively, full-featured BIOS, a 160mm x 100mm x 13.5mm (6.3" x 3.9" x 0.5") footprint and Linux®, Microsoft® Windows® 2000 and XP and popular RTOS compatibility.
