Wi2Wi Delivers Industry's First 'Complete' System-in-Package Based on Marvell's WLAN Chipset

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 8 // -- Wi2Wi, a leading provider of PAN, WAN and LAN communications products for Tier One PC OEMs, announces the availability of the industry's first complete system-in-package (SiP) for WLAN-Bluetooth applications. Based on Marvell's 88W8686 chipset, Wi2Wi has integrated all the necessary components in a complete packaged solution measuring only 12mm x 12mm x 1.4mm. Only the external antenna and power supply are required to create an application, thereby significantly reducing the customer's design integration risks and time-to-market costs.

Wi2Wi is also working with Marvell (NASDAQ:MRVL), the leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, to develop next generation embedded wireless systems. Under this partnership, Wi2Wi will integrate Marvell's world class WLAN silicon and technology into its portfolio of single- and dual-function System-in-Package (SiP) products.

Utilizing System in Package (SiP) technology, the W2CBW003 from Wi2Wi is a complete WLAN + Bluetooth(TM) radio system solution that includes all clock and voltage regulation functions. It integrates best-in-class wireless systems in a single LGA/BGA package. WLAN support is provided by Marvell with a multi- mode 802.11b/g solution, enabling wireless networking in the 2.4GHz frequency bands, and at data rates of up to 54Mbps. WPAN connectivity is provided by a Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) solution that can deliver data rates up to 3-times faster than current Bluetooth devices with lower power consumption. In addition to Bluetooth and WLAN connectivity, the product features UART, USB and SDIO interfaces and a Solder Down connection. W2CBW003 provides industry's best co-existence solution for WLAN and Bluetooth for complex cases like video streaming over WLAN with Bluetooth stereo headset.

"As market demand increases for devices with multi-network connectivity, OEM and ODM solution providers need access to simple to integrate, small, low power RF multi-mode solutions that provide state of the art functionality," said Ramzi Al-Harayeri, founder and CEO of Wi2Wi. "Combining forces with Marvell will allow us to deliver this to the market today, and to build a range of solutions that are based around Wi2Wi's SiP expertise and Marvell's industry-leading WLAN technology."

Dr. Parmesh Gopi, Marvell's Vice President and General Manager of the Embedded and Emerging Business Unit, Communications and Consumer Business Group, added: "By working with Wi2Wi Marvell can deliver very small, highly integrated solutions that allow our customers to reduce their integration time and time-to-market for products varied in scope and application, ranging from gaming to cameras to smartphones to emerging converged products and into all tiers of consumer electronics."

The W2CBW003 WLAN-Bluetooth System-in-Package is available in sample quantities today with volume production in February 2007. A development kit is also available for customer applications.
