Sysmex America, Inc. Receives U.S. Department of Defense Accreditation for WAM(TM) Middleware Solution

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. - Sysmex America, Inc., announced that the company's WAM Middleware solution has received the U.S. Department of Defense 'Authority to Operate' under the Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP). The accreditation was officially issued by the U.S. Defense Health Agency on October 15, 2014 and is a requirement to work with the Department of Defense (DoD).

DIACAP is used by the DoD to ensure risk management is applied to information systems. The accreditation means that the DoD is assured that a system solution or device meets their security standards and requirements.

"This accreditation is not just about receiving approval from the military, which is a satisfying achievement; successfully completing this process verifies that Sysmex has met the gold standard in providing a very secure system to our customers," said Mark Dahlberg, Senior Director, Customer Systems and IT, Sysmex America. "Throughout the process, we had a professional and collaborative rapport with the DoD, and this achievement serves as both a reference point and an enabler for Sysmex going forward."

"Having the accreditation demonstrates Sysmex's awareness of current security and IT system trends within our industry. At a time where you are seeing companies hire Chief Information Security Officers and improving their security efforts, it's clear that there are intense efforts to protect health care facilities' and patient data.  By completing this rigorous process, it further confirms that customers can feel comfortable that WAM has passed stringent tests and is a secure system," said Howard Taylor, Assistant Director, Middleware Systems, Sysmex America.
