Danaher Motion's New SQIO SynqNet I/O Modules Facilitate Seamless Integration of Custom I/O Hardware and Complex Motion on a SynqNet Network

Provides a single network programming environment for motion and I/O that simplifies machine design, decreases time to market and maximizes performance

WOOD DALE, IL - Danaher Motion introduces SQIO - the only SynqNet I/O interface boards available today that allow high volume machine builders to seamlessly integrate their custom analog and/or digital I/O hardware with complex, high performance motion into a SynqNet network architecture. SQIO maximizes machine performance by providing real-time I/O and remote motion performance diagnostics via SynqNet for in-depth system level visibility, analysis, and control.

Ideally suited for integrating custom I/O into a SynqNet network, SQIO modules are also a particularly attractive solution for high volume OEMs who have unique I/O timing needs or need tight synchronization with motion requirements, or who simply want system level software visibility of I/O status and operation. SQIO modules can also benefit those who custom package their I/O interfaces, or who prefer standardized connectors for I/O interfaces.

"SynqNet is a high performance motion network that brings unique benefits to the machine builder and user, and Danaher Motion's SQIO family iexpands those benefits by bringing SynqNet connectivity to custom-designed I/O," says Jeff Pike, Senior Product Line Manager. "OEMs who build their own custom I/O hardware will now be able to build a better machine, faster, with I/O points that can be distributed throughout the network for increased design flexibility and more robust machine operation compared to hard wired solutions. Their ability to implement custom I/O designs onto the SynqNet network will also provide previously unseen levels of motion and I/O integration and visibility, while improving machine safety, reliability, and uptime through SynqNet features such as self-healing, fault tolerance, and HotReplace, which allows the replacement of a node without having to shut down the network."

The state of every SynqNet digital or analog I/O point can be read or modified every SynqNet sample period. Combined with the SynqNet controller's recorder functionality, it is now possible to achieve I/O sampling rates of 2kHz to 48 kHz and the amount of data that can be recorded is only limited by the hard drive space on the host PC.

Additionally, a time-based capture feature unique to SQIO allows machine builders to place high-speed input capture points around the network without sacrificing performance or being restricted to complex wiring schemes between the controller and amplifier. This feature maximizes design flexibility, optimizes machine performance, reduces system costs and facilitates faster machine development. The time-based capture feature also promises increased product quality and reduced machine cycle time by allowing product locations within a machine to be captured in just microseconds. Cycle time can also be minimized by optimizing motion paths through on-the-fly motion changes triggered by I/O.

About SynqNet
The SynqNet motion network utilizes the industry standard IEE802.3 physical layer for robust electrical isolation and 100 meter cable lengths with a deterministic protocol layer engineered by Danaher Motion. SynqNet was designed to meet demanding multi-axis motion applications and to address industry trends towards interoperable, digital machinery. SynqNet gives machines designers an open platform to meet the market demands for system modularity, HotReplace(TM) machine service without downtime, remote diagnostics, software field upgrade, multi-vendor support and fault-tolerant safety. Since 2003, more than 270,000 axes of SynqNet motion and I/O networking solutions have been installed.
