Sybase IQ Delivers Best Performance Results for Enterprise-Scale Data Warehousing and Analytics


Industry-Leading TPC-H Benchmark Result Achieved For Performance at 1 TB Scale Factor on IBM System

DUBLIN, Calif.-- Sybase, Inc., an SAP® company (NYSE: SAP) and industry leader in enterprise and mobile software, today announced that Sybase® IQ v.15.2, the industry's leading column-oriented analytics server, working with the IBM® POWER® 780 Model 9179-MHB server and running the Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 6 Operating System (OS), achieved the best overall performance results among non-clustered systems for the TPC-H benchmark at 1 TB scale factor(1).

This benchmark simulates decision support systems that analyze enterprise-scale data volumes, execute queries with a high degree of complexity, and give answers to critical business questions. The test results provide another example of how the Sybase IQ 15.2 innovative architecture and query parallelism delivers maximum performance while requiring less overall IT resources by fully utilizing available assets, which significantly reduces ownership costs.

The TPC-H benchmark results for the joint Sybase and IBM solution include:

o The best performance at the 1 TB scale-factor among non-clustered
systems with 164,747 QphH. This record performance was achieved using
half the number of processor cores over the previous leader at the 1 TB
scale-factor among non-clustered systems

o A greater than 40% reduction in price-performance over the previous
performance record holder at the 1 TB scale-factor among non-clustered
systems

o With Sybase IQ 15.2, the highest QphH ever published for Sybase IQ in
the TPC-H

o The IBM POWER 780 server, driven by POWER7® processors and
incorporating solid state drive technology, is one of the most powerful
