B & K Precision® Introduces Programmable DC Switching Power Supplies
YORBA LINDA, CA...April 20, 2003 - B&K Precision Corporation today announced the addition of Models 1696, 1697 and 1698 cost-effective high-reliability, PC Compatible programmable switching DC power supply systems to their growing product line. All three models offer a new level in programmable performance at a price point not previously available.
The three programmable, low-noise, high-reliability systems offer an increased selection of versatile, cost-effective, low-power, state-of-the-art DC switching power supplies. Their excellent low-noise performance, compact profile and low price of $449 makes them an ideal choice for use in R&D, manufacturing, test engineering, hobbyist and low-power bench applications.
All three units offer unique and useful features not normally found in a programmable, switching DC power supply, including:
o PC Windows(TM) Software

provide 0.05% +200 mV load and 50mV line regulation, and clean and reliable output with low 25 mV ripple and noise (RMS). Operating voltage is 120V, 60Hz, and DC outputs of 1-20VDC, 10A (1696). 1-40VDC, 5A (1697) and 1-60VDC, 3.3A (1698), and instant retrieval of preset outputs are also provided.
Information appearing on the large, backlit 4-digit LCD ammeter,
voltmeter and power meter makes the front, panel mounted controls simple and easy to use. The unit's functionality is greatly enhanced by two-way communication with a standard PC via the supplied user-friendly software and built-in RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces. Utilizing the optional RS-485 interface cable adapter permits one PC to conduct remote control and data
logging of as many as 31 power supplies.
Data analysis can be achieved using data logging with color graphic display in adjusting range voltage, current, watt, and time periods. The built-in Micro-Controller Unit (MCU) and related software permits user re-calibration without opening the case.
Physical characteristics include a compact, small footprint, 7.6" (193mm) width, 3.86" (98mm) height, 8.5" (215mm) depth and a light 6.6 lbs. (3kgs).
