Cedar Point Communications Brings Efficiencies of Safari C(Cubed) to Voice- Over-WiMAX Marketplace

Simplicity, Cost-Effectiveness, Scalability To Be Demonstrated At WiMAX World

DERRY, N.H., Sept. 20 -- Cedar Point Communications, a leader in integrated VoIP switching technologies for the service provider and enterprise industries, today announced the general availability of its SAFARI C(CUBED) Multimedia Switching System for voice-over-WiMAX applications.

Cedar Point, which has deployed SAFARI C(CUBED) to a base of more than two dozen cable, telco and university customers throughout the Americas and in Europe, will demonstrate the simplicity, cost-effectiveness and scalability of the platform at WiMAX World USA (Booth # 747) September 26-27 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Cedar Point previously announced an initial WiMAX deployment, with Grupo TVCable, the largest cable system operator in Ecuador.

SAFARI C(CUBED) is a fully integrated voice switching platform that supports TDM, packet and SIP-based telephony services. SAFARI C(CUBED) simplifies the network by integrating all of the elements of the VoIP switching architecture into a single unit to cost-effectively provide carrier- class performance and reliability, while increasing network integrity, security and privacy.

"Voice over WiMAX is a natural evolutionary step for both traditional wireless providers and cable and telco operators seeking to expand their service footprints," said Mark Tubinis, CTO for Cedar Point Communications. "We believe that the same qualities that have made SAFARI C(CUBED) successful in the cable and telco markets -- most notably lower costs of ownership and rapid Return on Investment -- will be of value in WiMAX-based voice deployments."

Designed to meet the needs of both small and large voice providers, SAFARI C(CUBED) scales from 2,500 lines to upwards of 250,000 lines on the same platform. The switch's integrated architecture combines voice applications, lawful intercept (CALEA), e911 and rich media services in a cost-effective package that reduces capital expenditures and the need for extensive systems integration. In a WiMAX environment, SAFARI C(CUBED) enables existing cable, telco and enterprise customers to expand services beyond their current footprint, and allows them to quickly and easily deploy carrier-class voice services.
