New Eaton Switchgear Enhances Efficiency for Industrial, Data Center Customers

PITTSBURGH ... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation is expanding its line of Magnum DS switchgear engineered to protect, control and monitor low-voltage distribution systems. The Magnum DS switchgear now incorporates the Magnum Narrow 4000 ampere (A) circuit breaker and is designed for customers who require high power density in a limited space. Reducing equipment footprintenables commercial, industrial, institutions and government facilities to condense electrical closet size and reduce total cost of ownership.

"Eaton delivers industry-leading power distribution equipment, helping customers across industries manager their power more safely, reliably and efficiently," said Trent Thomas, manager of marketing programs at Eaton. "The new Magnum DS design incorporates Eaton's industry-leading Magnum narrow breaker to provide customers with the smallest 4000A structure in the industry."

Eaton condensed the Magnum narrow frame power and air circuit breaker into a 30-inch wide switchgear structure to minimize overall space requirements and deliver high-level performance. The reduced size and weight of the compact breaker also make it more manageable for the operator to handle.

The Magnum DS switchgear meets Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1558 and 891 standards for alternating current (AC) systems up to 600 volts. Magnum DS switchgear is also tested to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C37.20.7.1 and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60947-2 standards.

The Magnum 4000A breaker uses Digitrip(TM) unit technology, featuring Zone Selective Interlocking(TM) and Arcflash Reduction Maintenance System(TM) technology. The 4000A narrow frame features communications with Modbus and INCOM(TM) communications.
