Durable Tap Switches For Industrial Applications

WEYMOUTH, MA Electroswitch introduces its line of heavy-duty Tap Switches for industrial applications. With dual (continuous/intermittent) ratings ranging from 100/150 to 2000/3000 amps (5000 amps single-phase only) at 600 volts, they are available for single-, two-, or three-phase applications. Available in molded- and fabricated-base designs, they can be configured for either manual or motor operation.

Electroswitch Tap Switches feature low operating torque; high-pressure line contact; flame-retardant, nontracking insulation; precision-made nonferrous parts; and long-life contacts for years of trouble-free service, even under the most severe conditions of shock and vibration. An escutcheon and handle that accommodate two padlocks are standard features.

All current-carrying parts of models rated for 200 or more amps are heavily silver-plated. Models rated for less than 1000 amps feature glass-fiber-reinforced bases for high strength, precise contact alignment, and lightness. Some models have built-in rotor-lubrication systems.

Options include increased voltage ratings, angled terminals, key-interlock provisions, auxiliary switches for remote indication, an "OFF" position, and a mechanical-release handle. Reversing control is available for motor-operated switches.

The basic design of an Electroswitch Tap Switch lends itself to numerous special modifications. When necessary, the company custom designs and manufactures switches rated for 2000, 3000, or 5000 amps. Additional capabilities such as series/parallel switching, wye-delta switching, generator winding controls, high-frequency switching, and polarity reversing are also available.

Electroswitch is the industry leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of tough, reliable switches, relays, and other electrical systems products for utility, industrial, and military environments. The Electroswitch line of standard products is complemented by the company's proven ability and willingness to modify, custom design, and test their switches and relays for virtually any application. The company takes pride in meeting customer delivery requirements, no matter how stringent.
