New SURGELOGIC(TM) XR SPD Protects Against Surges, Transients on Single-Phase Power Systems up to 40,000 Amps

Advances in design, reliability help extend equipment life

PALATINE, Ill. - Oct. 1, 2002 - The SURGELOGIC(TM) XR Surge Protection Device (SPD) reduces service calls and maintenance costs by preventing interruptions in production, loss of data and unexpected equipment failure. With surge suppression capacity up to 40,000 amps the SURGELOGIC XR SPD assures maximum protection from power line transients and surges that could affect a wide range of applications by commercial, industrial and OEM users.

Designed for exceptional reliability, the SURGELOGIC XR has passed the Lucent WP93628 specification, the most complete qualification standard for SPD devices in the telecommunications industry.

The SURGELOGIC XR SPD conforms to international standards by meeting the UL, CUL, CSA and IEC requirements. It achieves maximum surge protection in applications such as custom control panels, automation cabinets, telecommunications, load centers, panelboards, meter sockets, high current loads, electric meters, well pumps and sensitive electronic equipment. With a 4X enclosure, the application can be mounted indoor or outdoor, with seals that protect the device from water and dust.

This parallel-mounted SPD preserves operational uptime during maintenance when connected through a breaker. Its exclusive Lighting Temp® thermal fuse protects against extreme overvoltage conditions and prevents dangerous thermal runway conditions if MOVs (metal oxide varistors) are damaged. The hybrid circuit enables advanced capabilities such as tight clamping and noise filtration for improved surge protection.

Features of the SURGELOGIC XR SPD help prevent unprotected operation. The audible alarm sounds to indicate device failure. Indication of the device's operation status is visible with the LED Status Indicators. The side or back mounting nipple provides simplified mounting with standard knockouts.
