Sola/Hevi-Duty Introduces New Line of Data/Signal Line Surge Protection Devices

ROSEMONT, IL, April 4, 2007 - Sola/Hevi-Duty, a global leader in power quality innovation, has leveraged its' engineering expertise to launch the STC Series of data/signal line surge protection devices. Offered in a variety of application-specific voltages and packaging configurations, the new devices prevent transient voltages from interrupting data streams or damaging vulnerable electronic equipment.

Utilizing multi-stage hybrid circuitry based on gas tubes, silicon avalanche components, and resetable PTC fuses, STC Series devices effectively address over voltage transients to provide high-speed, high-energy protection to network signal lines entering or leaving control panels, such as PLCs, universal remote I/O, DeviceNet(TM) and Data Highway Plus. Other STC Series models are designed to guard telecommunications and video surveillance systems from internally generated transients and noise.

In all, five models make up the Sola/Hevi-Duty STC Series:
o STC-PoE devices have RJ45 connectivity for simple integration into CAT 5e and Cat 6 cabling systems, including those utilizing Gigabit Ethernet (1000baseT) and PoE (Power over Ethernet). They are recommended for applications up to 60 VDC @ 300 mA.
o STC-DRS modules incorporate three-stage hybrid technology and the versatility of DIN mounting to safeguard process equipment, systems I/O and communications networks. They mount on a standard 35mm industrial DIN rail.
o STC-642 dual pair (four-wire) modules are engineered to protect low voltage data against lightning strikes by featuring three-stage hybrid technology. Its card edge module is gold-plated, double sided and mates with the STC-642 female terminal to allow data circuits to pass through the protector in a serial fashion.
o STC-CCTV devices are designed to meet the surge protection needs of a variety of coaxial applications found within most facilities, including CCTV, data and audio. The single coax units feature three-stage hybrid technology, standard BNC input/output and up to 20kA of surge current capability.
o STC-TEL devices conveniently protect single pair telephone line or data lines. These units address over voltage transients with silicon breakover devices, while sneak and fault currents are mitigated with PTC fuses.
