3000 V Surface Mount, SMA Packaged Rectifier Now Available with Gull Wing Leads to Provide Better Lead Separation, Prevent Tracking and Meet Medical Spacing Requirements



The SM3FG rectifier from HV Components Associates is a true surface mount high voltage diode with gull wing leads allowing traces to be placed further apart on the PC board for increased creepage distance. This diode will meet medical standards for dielectric standoff in an SMA package. The SM3FG is available in tape and reel packaging, and unlike other types currently used as surface mounts, the SM3FG has the standard rectangular SMA profile (similar to DO-214AC), handled easily by pick and place machines.

The SM3FG features a peak inverse voltage (PIV) rating of 3000 Volts with a low forward voltage (VF) drop and an average forward current (IF) of 250 mAmps. Typical recovery time (Trr) is 75 nS. Maximum surge current (IFSM) is 20 Amps.

The diodes are ideal for applications, such as medical instrumentation, that have stringent safety requirements. Other applications include high voltage power supplies for plasma displays, and electrophoresis. The SM3FG is typically priced at 85¢ per piece in 6,000 piece rolls and available in 4-6 weeks.
