Raychem Circuit Protection Announces Lead-free SMD Series of PolySwitch(TM) Devices
MENLO PARK, CA-August 14, 2003- Raychem Circuit Protection, a unit of Tyco Electronics, announces that its popular SMD family of PolySwitch resettable devices is now available as lead-free components. Designed for use in portable electronics, computers and peripherals, telecom equipment and automotive applications, the SMD product family line includes nanoSMD, microSMD, and miniSMD C-design devices. Characterized by their small size and wide range of current and voltage options, the surface mount devices help provide resettable circuit protection in applications where conserving board space is a critical design factor.
The new lead-free SMD devices meet the same specifications as their standard counterparts. They are capable of withstanding the higher melting temperatures associated with lead solder alternatives, and can also be installed using current reflow profiles, facilitating migration to lead-free manufacturing and assembly. Component solderability meets standard industry specifications, including J-STD-002.

The lead-free SMD devices are available in tape and reel packages and shipped in moisture barrier bags.
